Job summary

PPG Industries in Cleveland seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering support to production processes, focusing on root cause analysis and preventative measures. You will work with technical, maintenance, planning, QA, RM procurement, and IT, reporting to the assistant operations manager.

Responsibilities include investigating abnormalities, driving corrective actions, optimizing processes, supporting Kaizen activities, and developing standard work with operator training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Focus on manufacturing processes; processing experience preferred.
• High degree of attention to detail and ability to manage complexity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; self-motivated to seek solutions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate abnormalities in operations, identify root causes, and propose preventative measures.
• Drive corrective actions and lead change initiatives to completion.
• Engineer re-work streams for non-conforming products.
• Analyze and audit operational data to identify trends and drive cycle-time improvements.
• Identify and request changes to standards or formulas to optimize processes.
• Perform process optimizations including CapEx projects.
• Participate in Kaizen events and support related activities.
• Troubleshoot process/product issues; may require evening or weekend flex.
• Execute and improve root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop standard work and assist with operator training for new processes.
