Job summary

nVent in Aberdeen, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Chemical Engineer to partner with manufacturing and maintenance teams to improve and streamline processes, ensuring smooth production and adherence to quality and safety.

You will apply Lean/Six Sigma, analyze process data, and implement cost-reduction initiatives while ensuring copper-bonded ground rods meet ASTM/UL standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and optimize copper bonding, plating, and wireline processes.
  • Build, monitor, and improve production processes, including surface preparation, electroplating/copper bonding, heat treatment, straightening, and wireline operations.
  • Diagnose process and equipment problems, maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Analyze process data to maintain product quality, finding opportunities to improve yield and reduce scrap.
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives focused on raw material utilization, chemical consumption optimization, and waste minimization.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to daily operations to ensure stable production of copper-bonded ground rods meeting ASTM/UL standards.
  • Guide Lean and ongoing improvement projects within assigned areas, emphasizing SQDCC.
  • Apply root cause analysis and statistical methods to address process variability and production challenges.

YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred
  • Experience using engineering and business tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Excel
