Job summary

nVent in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician for a temp-to-hire position based on 30, 60, 90 training. You will perform maintenance on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and plumbing systems, troubleshoot issues, and restore equipment to optimal performance.

The role requires 3 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma (trade school preferred), and ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school preferred.
  • 3 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills are essential.
  • Experience with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and data entry in Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all assigned maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and with a high level of professionalism.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and expand knowledge of manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Identify equipment issues, determine corrective actions, and complete repairs by replacing, repairing, or fabricating components as needed.
  • Disassemble, rebuild, test, and adjust equipment to restore optimal performance and reliability.
  • Operate machine tools and bench work to fabricate replacement parts and restore worn or damaged components.
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks, including repairing or constructing guards, stands, racks, bins, and other shop equipment.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize downtime.
  • Accurately report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, and unusual operating conditions to leadership.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly set up and operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Support production demands by working scheduled hours and overtime as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to meet business and production objectives.

YOU HAVE:
Academic background:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school certificate in maintenance or machine repair preferred.
Previous experience:
  • 3 years previous experience in industrial maintenance.
Skills:
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Computer skills including data entry and retrieval (Microsoft Outlook).
  • Blueprint reading skills.
  • Digital or analog volt/amp/ohm meter operation skills.
  • Measuring tool skills (Dial indicators, Micrometer, and Caliber).
Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands: manufacturing plant
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
