Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Cell Inspector for the 1st shift in Smithfield, UT. The role inspects, tests, and samples standard parts, receiving and shipping documentation and ensuring dimensional accuracy.

The candidate will perform first article approvals when needed, support quality initiatives, and collaborate with QC leadership. This is a Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm position in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills and clear communication required.
• Attention to detail essential for inspection accuracy.
• Basic blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge required.
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks and pin gauges.
• Willingness to apply AI tools to improve productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on new and routine parts using established procedures.
• Check in-process and final dimensions; record measurements on IP sheets or equivalent.
• May perform first article and first piece approvals for operators.
• Assist developing corrective actions internally and externally as needed.
• Support quality improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist supervisor, Quality Inspector II and Quality Engineer as required.
• Support other production areas as needed.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm

Job Summary: Performs new and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts. Responsible for receiving, in-process, or final inspections as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for utilizing aptitude in measurement techniques, metrology, and blueprint reading and verify operators are accurately measuring and recording dimensions on IP sheets or other documentation.
• May perform first article and first piece approval for operators.
• Perform and assist in developing internal and external corrective action responses.
• Perform inspection duties, as required.
• Support quality improvement and cost savings initiatives, as required.
• Assist the supervisor, Quality Inspector II, and Quality Engineer, as required.
• Assist in other production areas, as needed.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

• 0-3 Years of manufacturing experience with knowledge of inspection methodology.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Interpersonal skills.

• Basic blue print and GD&T knowledge.
• Ability to correctly use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, and pin gages, etc.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Work Environment:

• Work performed in a production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, in some areas.
