Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an assembler in Bridgeport, CT to perform the assembly of a wide variety of components and subassemblies to deliver a quality product for customers.

Responsibilities include following blueprints, performing inspections, maintaining inventory, and participating in Kaizen activities to improve safety, quality and efficiency. Requires basic math and reading of instructions, with 6 months in manufacturing preferred.

Qualifications

  • HS/GED required.
  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Observe safety rules and wear PPE.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Operate equipment safely.
  • Participate as a member of work teams.
  • Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Collaborate with team, customers and suppliers to improve these metrics.
  • Participate in Level 3 kaizen and scrap/rework elimination projects.
  • Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, BOMs and other instructions to assemble equipment.
  • Perform microscope inspection on assembled parts.
  • Maintain inventory of product in workstations.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure standards.
  • Identify defects and document them.
  • Follow quality and safety procedures.
  • Attend training and perform 5s activities.
  • Assist in training of other associates.
  • Read inspection equipment and understand basic inspection and sound measurement practices.

Summary

Responsible for the assembly of a wide variety of assemblies and subassemblies to produce a quality product for our customer.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner.
  • Participate as a member of work teams.
  • Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Work with team members, other business functions, customers and suppliers to continually improve these measures.
  • Participates in Level 3 activities such as scrap and rework elimination projects along with various other kaizen events.
  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
  • Perform microscope inspection on assembled parts
  • Maintain inventory of product in workstations
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Attends required training programs. Performs 5s activities.
  • Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
  • Ability to read and use various inspection equipment and precision tools and understand and apply basic inspection and sound measurement practices. Basic knowledge of Level 3 principles.
Education and/or Experience
  • HS Graduate of Equivalent i.e. GED
  • At least 6 months’ work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions and techniques
  • Basic mathematical aptitude required
Certification/Training Required
  • Up to 6 weeks of on the job training to become familiar and confident with essential duties
  • GMP Training
  • General Orientation
  • Annual Safety training programs (Hearing Conservation, etc.)
  • Quality System Awareness Training
Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Currency: USD

Salary Minimum: 35,000

Salary Maximum: 40,000
