Job summary

Oatey Co. in Shakopee, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer-Automation to identify, scope and implement automation projects and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to advance manufacturing technologies.

You will design automated work cells, analyze cycle times, develop cost-effective processes, specify equipment, manage deployments and document procedures. A Bachelor's degree in engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in operations/manufacturing environment.
• Basic understanding of ISO9001 and LEAN.
• Proficient in manual machining, fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build of automated work cells including concept development, detailed mechanical and electrical design, component selection and control software programming.
• Analyzes machining and assembly cycle times to provide continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve quality and on-time delivery.
• Develops cost effective processes and procedures for the manufacture of parts and assemblies in conformance with established specifications and customer requirements in conjunction with production personnel.
• Designate, modify and/or make recommendations for the procurement of equipment necessary to produce parts and/or assemblies.
• Project management for deployment of complex automated systems; develops manufacturing cost estimates to support quoting activities; sourcing “of the shelf” automated solutions.
• Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes including CAD drawings for cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures; standard work instructions.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests; deployment to the production floor and operator training on machine procedures
