Ultra-Poly Corporation in Portland, PA is hiring for a Grinder & Shredder operator in our Production Department. This entry-level role trains you to operate large shredders and grinders, set up equipment, load materials, and ensure safe production to meet customer orders.

Expect a 12‑hour night shift (7 pm–7 am) with a rotating 36/48 hour two‑week schedule, weekly pay, and comprehensive benefits as you begin your career.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Able to work a 12-hour night shift (7 pm to 7 am) with rotating schedule (36 hours first week, 48 hours second week).
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in varied temperatures.
• Reading and writing English required; basic computer knowledge a plus.
• Manufacturing experience not required; willingness to learn is essential.
• Mechanically inclined with attention to detail and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment for production according to the schedule.
• Operate shredders and grinders during your shift.
• Manually load and unload product into/out of equipment.
• Monitor and adjust equipment; follow safety protocols.
• Move materials within the production floor as needed (forklift usage noted).
• Support teammates as needed to meet customer orders.

We have immediate full time openings and are searching for new team members to join our Production Department in Portland as a Grinder & Shredder operator. These are entry level opportunities that are supported by a team that will train you to perform in our unique environment.

What you can expect to be doing:

• This position is "hands on" and the individual should have a self-starter mindset.
• Setting up the equipment for production following the schedule to fulfill our customer orders.
• The majority of your shift will involve operating large equipment such as shredders and grinders.
• Manually load and unload product into and out of equipment.
• Material Handlers are regularly on their feet, monitoring, adjusting and attentively aware of the equipment they are operating.
• Forklifts are used to transfer material within the production floor - please note this is not a full-time forklift position.
• Responsible for executing all safety protocols - safety is critical to everyone's success.

  • Our work schedule rotates every 2 weeks: 36 hours one week & 48 hours second week (schedule includes every other weekend)
• Able to meet the physical qualifications for this position which include:
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Standing for an extended period of time
  • Lift, throw, bend, squat, twist, and reach
  • Working in both hot and cold conditions
• Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
• Need to be able to read, write and understand English
• Basic computer knowledge is a plus
• Previous manufacturing experience is a plus, but not necessary
• Mechanically inclined with an attention to detail
• Lastly, have a positive attitude and be willing to assist others when needed.
