Job summary

Ultra-Poly Corporation in Portland, PA is hiring for a Grinder & Shredder operator. These are entry level opportunities supported by a team that will train you to perform in our unique environment.

This hands-on role sets up equipment, runs shredders and grinders, loads and unloads material, and requires safety-first conduct on a 12-hour night shift with rotating weekends. Starting pay is up to $20.50 per hour, with weekly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Entry level opportunity with training provided.

• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.
• Able to work a 12-hour night shift (7 pm–7 am) and rotate weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment for production following the schedule to fulfill orders.
• Operate shredders and grinders as part of daily production.
• Manually load and unload product into and out of equipment.
• Monitor and adjust machinery, staying aware of safety protocols.
• Move materials within the floor as needed (forklifts used, not a forklift position).
• Comply with all safety procedures and assist teammates as required.

We have immediate full time openings and are searching for new team members to join our Production Department in Portland as a Grinder & Shredder operator. These are entry level opportunities that are supported by a team that will train you to perform in our unique environment.

What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• This position is "hands on" and the individual should have a self-starter mindset.
• Setting up the equipment for production following the schedule to fulfill our customer orders.
• The majority of your shift will involve operating large equipment such as shredders and grinders.
• Manually load and unload product into and out of equipment.
• Material Handlers are regularly on their feet, monitoring, adjusting and attentively aware of the equipment they are operating.
• Forklifts are used to transfer material within the production floor - please note this is not a forklift position.
• Responsible for executing all safety protocols - safety is critical to everyone's success.

What We Are Looking For In Our Hires

• Our successful candidates are self-starters who are willing to learn!
• Have a strong work ethic - dependable and demonstrate good attendance
• Able to work a 12-hour night shift (7 pm to 7 am)
• Our work schedule rotates every 2 weeks: 36 hours one week & 48 hours second week (schedule includes every other weekend)
• Able to meet the physical qualifications for this position which include:
• Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• Standing for an extended period of time
• Lift, throw, bend, squat, twist, and reach
• Working in both hot and cold conditions
• Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
• Need to be able to read, write and understand English
• Basic computer knowledge is a plus
• Previous manufacturing experience is a plus, but not necessary
• Mechanically inclined with an attention to detail
• Lastly, have a positive attitude and be willing to assist others when needed.
