Job summary

Shippers Supply, Inc. in Golden Valley, MN is seeking an Accounting Manager who will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and ensure GAAP-based accuracy across the general ledger.

You will lead the accounting team, translate numbers for leadership, and implement process improvements to run the department more efficiently. The role requires 5+ years in accounting (including GL and close) with manufacturing/wholesale distribution exposure, plus ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• 4 to 5+ years hands-on general ledger and month-end close.
• 5+ years in manufacturing or wholesale distribution (transportation/logistics relevant).
• 2+ years in cost accounting and variance analysis.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and internal controls.
• Proficient with a mid-market ERP used in manufacturing or distribution.
• 3+ years leading an accounting team; staff supervision experience.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Problem solving, planning, and prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and improve timeliness and accuracy.
• Maintain complete general ledger and deliver GAAP-compliant financials.
• Lead inventory and cost accounting, including COGS and variances.
• Run variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and annual budget; rolling projections.
• Oversee AP/AR, customer credit, and payroll backup to HR.
• Build internal controls and maintain ISO 9001 documentation practices.
• Manage accounting team lifecycles: hiring, onboarding, coaching, reviews.
• Coordinate with operations to fix errors at source and improve processes.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation in the department.
