Job summary

SPAN is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting functions as we scale hardware manufacturing and expand our product portfolio. This role owns inventory and cost accounting across contract manufacturing and consignment, drives the monthly close, and partners on audits and financial statements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on experience with CM/consignment accounting, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and lease accounting (ASC 842).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and accruals.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with contract manufacturing and consignment inventory accounting in a manufacturing or hardware environment, revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842).
• Experience handling accounting and reporting for SPV entities and managing standalone entity reporting.
• Must have experience running the accounting close process and managing deadlines.
• Must have month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux/variance analysis experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
• Experience with NetSuite; FloQast/Blackline, Salesforce, and Boomi a plus.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships and communicate financial concepts to non-finance partners.
• Experience mentoring or managing direct reports.
• Agile, adaptable, fast learner in a high-growth environment.
• High accuracy and attention to detail; proactive and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory and cost accounting for CM/EMS manufacturing and consignment arrangements.
• Manage full-cycle consignment accounting, transfers, usage reporting, and reconciliation with counterparty records.
• Maintain inventory valuation and SLOB reserves per GAAP.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to validate inventory movements and data integrity.
• Lead and/or support monthly, quarterly, and annual close; prepare journal entries.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and variance explanations for Finance leadership.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and schedules; maintain audit-ready docs.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors and PBC items.
• Prepare and review revenue recognition entries per ASC 606 and lease accounting entries per ASC 842.
• Identify process improvements to increase automation and reduce close time.
• Mentor and coach direct report(s) and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with Supply Chain, FP&A, and Legal.
• Support ad hoc projects, system implementations, and broader Accounting initiatives.
