Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN is seeking a Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley screw machines. Prior experience on Davenport or Acme screw machines or similar equipment is required.

The company manufactures aerospace-grade fasteners, offering weekly pay, signing bonuses, and a complete benefits package. Start time is 5:00 AM, with a 2:30 PM finish, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Davenport or Acme screw machines or similar equipment.
• Ability to load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• Working knowledge of shop math including basic geometry.
• Ability to read basic prints and apply dimensional specs to inspection.

Responsibilities

• Operate screw machines to manufacture parts per specifications.
• Refer to blueprints and schematics to determine operations.
• Protect machines and product by following loading and transport procedures.
• Monitor and adjust machine offsets to maintain quality.
• Record in-process inspections and measure features per tolerances.
• Inspect intermediate parts and use advanced tools as needed.
• Meet production demands and run multiple machines.
• Work safely under PPE guidelines and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for a Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley Screw Machines. Candidates should have some prior experience operating Davenport Screw Machines, Acme Screw Machines, or other similar type of machining equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances.
• Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands as assigned.
• Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Prior experience operating multi-spindle Screw Machine equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
• The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.

Required Experience

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least one year prior to hire.

Level Of Education

• High School diploma or GED is expected
