Job summary

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN, part of Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC), seeks an experienced Screw Machine Tool Setter for 1st shift. You will operate Acme/Davenport screw machines, set up tooling, and verify parts meet specifications.

Schedule is 5:00 AM–2:30 PM, Mon–Fri, with overtime on Saturdays or surrounding weekdays. Signing bonuses, weekly pay, a full benefits package, 401(k) with up to 5% match, and paid holidays are offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of advanced machining experience preferred.
• Experience with screw machine equipment and set-up required.
• Ability to set offsets, adjust cams/gears, and load fixtures.
• Able to read and apply basic prints and tolerances.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up Acme/Davenport screw machines to spec.
• Use blueprints and schematics to plan operations.
• Load fixtures and cutting tools, control machine, and transport parts safely.
• Monitor quality and adjust machine offsets as needed.
• Perform first article and buyoff, and complete inspections.

Job Description

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for an experienced Screw Machine Tool Setter on 1st Shift. Candidates should have prior experience operating and performing set-up on Acme Screw Machines, Davenport Screw Machines, or other similar type of machining equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances.
• Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform first article and buyoff.
• Perform setup operations which includes setting up fixtures and cutting tools.
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands as assigned.
• Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Prior experience in the operation and setup of Swiss-style Screw Machine equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• A working knowledge of setting and adjusting offsets, and ability to accurately adjust and/or change cams and gears.
• The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
• The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.

Required Experience:

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in advanced machining duties for at least two years prior to hire.

Level of Education:

• High School diploma or GED is expected
