Job summary

Greer Stop Nut, part of Precision Castparts Corp., in Nashville, TN, is hiring a Manual Machinist for the 1st shift on Davenport or ACME-Gridley screw machines. Start time is 5:00 AM, with a 2:30 PM finish, Monday through Friday.

Overtime opportunities may be available on Saturdays or outside the usual weekday shift. We offer signing bonuses, weekly pay, meaningful work, a full benefits package, 401k with up to 5% match, no mandatory overtime, paid holidays, vacations, personal time, and shift

Qualifications

• Experience operating multi-spindle screw machines or similar metalworking equipment.
• Ability to identify and load/secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• Working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry and basic geometry.
• Ability to read prints and apply dimensions to inspection processes.
• Typically, at least one year of machining duties prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use samples, blueprints, and schematics to determine methods and sequence of operations.
• Be in control of machine, load/transport parts safely, protect machines and products.
• Maintain quality by monitoring and adjusting machine offsets.
• Record in-process inspection actions and verify features per tolerances.
• Perform inspection tasks using drawings and advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands and operate multiple machines.
• Work safely under PPE guidelines and company safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Manual Machinist

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for a Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley Screw Machines. Candidates should have some prior experience operating Davenport Screw Machines, Acme Screw Machines, or other similar type of machining equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, be in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances.
• Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands as assigned.
• Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Prior experience operating multi-spindle Screw Machine equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
• The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.

Required Experience

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least one year prior to hire.

Level of Education

• High School diploma or GED is expected
