Greer Stop Nut / Precision Castparts Corp. in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley Screw Machines. Prior experience with Davenport, Acme, or similar screw machines preferred.

The role supports aerospace/nautical-grade fastener production with a strong emphasis on quality and safety. The position offers a structured schedule from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with potential overtime on Saturdays or surrounding weekdays.

Qualifications

• Experience operating screw machines or similar multi-spindle equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Knowledge of shop math and measurement techniques.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts per specs.
• Use blueprints/schematics to determine operation sequence.
• Load fixtures and safely transport parts.
• Monitor offsets and adjust for quality.
• Perform in-process inspection and verify dimensions.
• Run production on multiple machines when needed.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for a Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley Screw Machines. Candidates should have some prior experience operating Davenport Screw Machines, Acme Screw Machines, or other similar type of machining equipment.

Schedule

Start time is 5:00AM and the shift ends at 2:30 PM Monday - Friday

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances.
• Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands as assigned.
• Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Prior experience operating multi-spindle Screw Machine equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
• The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.

Required Experience

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least one year prior to hire.

Level Of Education

• High School diploma or GED is expected
