Job summary

IES is seeking a skilled Machinist (Manual) in Columbus, GA to repair and fabricate components for motors, generators, pumps and gearboxes using manual lathes, mills, and grinders. Electroplating may be required to enhance durability and performance.

You will read blueprints, measure with precision tools, and ensure tolerances while maintaining safety and quality. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of machining experience, strong math and metal-property knowledge, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years as a machinist with manual equipment proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of machining procedures, mechanics and metal properties.
• Able to lift heavy components and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to safety, accuracy and quality in fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and fabrication of components for motors, generators, pumps, turbines, and gearboxes using manual equipment.
• Interpret technical drawings to determine machining procedures, tolerances and material requirements.
• Apply electroplating processes as required to enhance component durability.
• Diagnose issues and determine the best repair or fabrication method.
• Use precision measuring tools to ensure exact specifications.
• Select appropriate materials based on properties and application.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement timely solutions.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain and inspect equipment for reliable operation.
