Job summary

IES is seeking a skilled Machinist in Massillon, OH for 2nd shift to repair and fabricate components for motors, pumps, and turbines using manual lathes, mills, shapers, and grinders. Electroplating experience is a plus.

The role requires reading blueprints, precision measurement, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in a non-CNC environment. Must be able to lift heavy parts and work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist, proficient with manual lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, grinders, and electroplating.
• Solid understanding of machining procedures, mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics with attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilities for mechanical issues.
• Physical ability to lift heavy components and stand for extended periods; able to use hand tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical machining certification is a plus.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Machining: Repair and fabricate components for motors, generators, pumps, turbines, and gearboxes using manual equipment.
• Electroplating: Apply electroplating processes as needed to enhance durability.
• Blueprints & Layouts: Interpret drawings to determine procedures, dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
• Component Repair: Diagnose issues and determine best repair or fabrication approach.
• Precision Measurement: Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure specs.
• Material Handling: Select appropriate materials based on properties and application.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintenance: Keep equipment in good condition and perform routine checks.
