Job summary

IES in Riverdale, IL is seeking a skilled Machinist to perform repairs and fabrications of components for motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, turbines, and more using manual lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, and grinders.

You will read blueprints, measure with micrometers and calipers, select materials, apply electroplating, troubleshoot issues, and uphold safety and quality in a non-CNC environment. Minimum 2 years of experience and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist with proficiency in manual lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, and grinders.
• Solid understanding of machining procedures, mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics; attention to detail is essential.

Responsibilities

• Machining: repairs and fabrication of components for motors, generators, pumps, turbines, and gearboxes using manual equipment.
• Electroplating: apply electroplating processes to enhance durability and functionality.
• Blueprints & Layouts: interpret drawings to determine procedures, tolerances and material needs.
• Component Repair: diagnose damage and determine the best repair or fabrication method.
• Precision Measurement: use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure exact specs.
• Material Handling: select appropriate materials considering properties and application.
• Problem Solving: troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
• Safety Compliance: follow safety protocols and maintain a safe workspace.
• Maintenance: keep equipment in good condition and perform routine inspections.
