Job summary

John H. Carter Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled machinist with valve repair experience to safely perform precision machining in the shop and in the field. You will operate multiple machines and prepare components for assembly, ensuring quality and accuracy.

The role requires at least 2 years in valve repair, a high school diploma, and any applicable TWIC/OSHA credentials, with a professional approach to customer interfacing.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent required; technical/trade school preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in the valve repair industry.
  • TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately perform machining processes including DRO, nozzle and disc machining, honing internal bores, and seat/disc work.
  • Operate milling machine, VTL, drill press, surface grinder, horizontal mill, lathes, honing tools, band and cut-off saw, and Lap Master.
  • Work with various valves: gate, globe, checks, raised-face, RTJ, Grayloc, lens-ring.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities
  • Safely and accurately perform the following machining processes
    • Maintain knowledge of digital read-outs (DRO)
    • Machine nozzles and discs including polishing using the lathe in the shop and the field
    • Machine broken studs on small bodies using the drill press
    • Hone internal bores
    • Use magnetic drill for stud removal
    • Use drill press or pneumatic tools for disking seats
    • Machine flanges (raised-face, RTJ ring joint, Grayloc, lens-ring, etc.)
    • Machine seats and trim (gate, globe, and check valves)
    • Machine gear operator segments

Operate the following machines: milling machine, VTL, drill press, surface grinder, horizontal mill, manual lathes, honing tools, band and cut-off saw, and Lap Master
