Job summary

John H. Carter Company in Texas seeks an experienced valve repair technician. You will perform machining operations on valve components, including nozzle and seat work, in shop and field settings, while upholding safety and quality standards.

This role requires 2+ years in valve repair, strong mechanical aptitude, professional communication, and the ability to interface with customers and colleagues. TWIC and OSHA certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately perform machining processes on valve components.
  • Operate milling machines, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders and related tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of DROs and perform bore honing and seat/trim work.
  • Use field equipment for nozzle and disc polishing and stud removal.
  • Lend support in meeting customer demands and industry standards.

Job description

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately perform the following machining processes
    • Maintain knowledge of digital read-outs (DRO)
    • Machine nozzles and discs including polishing using the lathe in the shop and the field
    • Machine broken studs on small bodies using the drill press
    • Hone internal bores
    • Use magnetic drill for stud removal
    • Use drill press or pneumatic tools for disking seats
    • Machine flanges (raised-face, RTJ ring joint, Grayloc, lens-ring, etc.)
    • Machine seats and trim (gate, globe, and check valves)
    • Machine gear operator segments

Operate the following machines: milling machine, VTL, drill press, surface grinder, horizontal mill, manual lathes, honing tools, band and cut-off saw, and Lap Master
