Manual Machinist
We are looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join our team in Odessa, Texas. The Machinist is responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts and ensure products meet precise specifications.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts
- Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
- Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations
- Monitor the accuracy of cuts
- Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
- Ensure finished parts conform to drawings
- Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications
- Use manual and computer-controlled machinery
- Adhere to all safety procedures and uses proper protective gear
- Manage maintenance on all equipment used
- Maintain a clean work area
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements- 1-3 years' experience as a Machinist
Skill Sets- Experience in manual machine tools required
- Must be able to understand measurements, measuring tools and blue prints
- Must be able to use all types of micrometers and dial indicators
- Must be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Basic computer skills
