Job description

This position produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Prepares and operates CNC milling machine to perform required tasks.
2. Understands specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
3. Translates instructions into computer commands so machines can perform the correct function.
4. Prepares and loads raw materials and parts on the machine.
5. Prepares test runs to check if the machines produce output according to specifications.
6. Sets machines to complete full cycles to fabricate the required number of parts.
7. Supervises the machines while they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
8. Inspects and measures finished products and compares them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
9. Checks and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality.
10. Adheres to quality control procedures.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
12. Completion of CNC Milling Machinist Level I qualifications.
13. Ability to set up more advanced fixturing (sign plate, 4th Axis, etc.).
14. Good understanding of GD&T.
15. With little or no assistance, be able to run through an unproven program.
16. G Code editing (Speeds and Feeds, Canned Cycles, etc.).
17. Make minor changes to a pre-programmed Mastercam file.
18. Ability to do basic programming using Mastercam.
19. Ability to give machinist double check and metric double check.
20. Full understanding of cutter selection and speed and feeds.
21. Ability to bore and check close tolerance holes.
22. Good understanding of all CNC milling equipment.
23. Ability to use Renishaw Probe.
24. Working knowledge of certified quality standards (AS9100 Rev D).
