Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a full‑time manual driving Instructor during new‑hire class cycles, including one full day of track instruction and four additional days of instruction.
  • Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety inside and outside the vehicle.
  • Demonstrate advanced situational awareness and continuously adjust to changes in the environment.
  • Operate with safety as the primary goal.
  • Conduct classroom sessions and training presentations for new operators.
  • Set up and break down all course material, including classroom and test‑track equipment.
  • Care for, maintain, and manage all driving course equipment.
  • Coordinate new training sessions weekly with training leadership and onsite staff.
  • Become a resourceful guru on the most recent versions of autonomous vehicle systems to incorporate best practices.
  • Safely orchestrate training for multiple trainees simultaneously, inside a vehicle and on a closed course.
  • Standardize and maintain consistent training practices across the organization.
  • Participate in ongoing meetings with managers and peers for training improvement discussions and trainee feedback.
  • Flag any major driver safety concerns to local safety and training managers.
  • Work occasional overtime and travel to off‑site training locations as needed.
  • Adapt to different learning styles and respond quickly to high‑pressure environments.
  • Set the tone and example for less experienced Operations Drivers.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
Required Education And Experience
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous defensive driving instructor experience, such as driving school, DMV road testing, or high‑performance driving background preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months operating and testing autonomous vehicles required.
  • Proven track record of safe driving habits and a clean employee safety record.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency with laptop computers and GSuite apps (Gmail, Chats, Drive, Sheets, Docs).
  • Proficiency with touchscreen smartphones (Android preferred or required).
  • Type at least 40 adjusted words per minute.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to quickly and concisely describe thoughts.
  • Respond quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios.
  • Cross‑functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation.
  • Work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Self‑motivated with good judgment, capable in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments.
  • Leadership skills to supervise classes with large groups and lead classroom training sessions.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements
  • Long periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Occasionally reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Use close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Most work is outdoors in a vehicle.
Pay Rate

$33.00–$38.00 per hour.

  • Qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) license where required.
