The Training Specialist will work closely with trainees to assess their needs, set development goals, and provide hands‑on coaching in both soft and technical skills. They will deliver individualized or group coaching sessions focused on skill‑building (e.g., communication, job readiness, safety standards). They will facilitate in‑car and classroom training sessions, track performance, give constructive feedback, and determine readiness for skills assessments.
It is important to maintain a high level of professionalism and responsibility when helping learners acquire new knowledge or skills, ensuring they are well‑equipped to apply what they’ve learned in real‑world situations. Safety is our #1 responsibility. Training Leads are expected to uphold this in all situations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive compensation package of minimum $24.00 - maximum $28.00 per hour
- Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
- Sick days: 5 days

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle
- Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, an understanding of the technology in their care, and a willingness to adjust to changes in the environment
- Communicate courteously with management, engineers, and the public, acting as the deputy for technology
- Operate with safety as the primary goal
- Conduct classroom and training presentations weekly for new‑hires and for employees selected for upskilling programs
- Conduct classroom and training presentations as needed for new operators as part of the defensive driving and manual driving training and assessment program
- Assist in creating and maintaining a training program and materials
- Act as a mentor, providing career or academic advice when applicable
- Answer questions, address concerns, and provide resources for further learning
- Safely orchestrate training for multiple trainees simultaneously, inside and outside of a vehicle
- Standardize and maintain consistent training practices across the organization
- Participate in weekly meetings with managers and peers for training improvement discussions, and daily meetings on shift to discuss trainees’ performance evaluation
- Welcome and onboard new hires with a positive attitude and professional manner
- Practice a firm yet understanding teaching style to accommodate different learning styles
- Respond quickly to changing and potentially high‑pressure environments
- Set the tone and example for less experienced employees
- Participate in operational missions to maintain best practices and updates about autonomous vehicles
- Comply with Transdev’s Autonomous Vehicle Division zero‑tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol or drugs by self‑driving vehicle operators during a shift, including randomized drug testing, and all other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads (additional experience preferred)
- High School Diploma or GED required; four‑year college degree in a related field (e.g., industrial or applied sciences) preferred
- Minimum 3 months operating and testing autonomous vehicles required
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (Gmail, Hangouts, Drive, Sheets, Docs)
- Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to describe thoughts quickly and concisely
- Ability to respond quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios
- Adapt quickly to new and developing technology
- Cross‑functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation
- Ability to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and travel up to 30% of the time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self‑motivated with good judgment in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments
Physical Requirements
- Long periods of standing, walking, and sitting
- Use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk or hear; climb stairs or ladders
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift or move up to 45 pounds
- Use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Most work is performed outdoors in a vehicle
Pre‑Employment Requirements
- Must be 21 years old
- All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check; safety sensitive positions require a physical screening
- Transdev maintains a drug‑free workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program
- Transdev reserves the right to perform ongoing background checks for all employees except in states where this is prohibited by state law
- Applicants must maintain an acceptable driving record suitable for approval to drive as part of regular duties, monitored regularly
- Ability to qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester license in states and positions where required
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without restrictions for any employer at any time
