Job summary

Ni Hao Chinese is seeking a Mandarin teaching assistant for its after-school program in Southern California. The role focuses on supporting teachers, guiding small groups, and engaging children aged 4–12 in language activities.

Ideal candidates are native Mandarin speakers with English skills and a willingness to collaborate with staff and parents. Part-time (10-15 hours/week) in the afternoon, with opportunities to develop mini-lessons and enhance classroom experiences.

Qualifications

• Native Mandarin speaker with proficiency in English.
• 1+ year of experience in afterschool program settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist children with class activities and support teachers.
• Help students with different language backgrounds and varying skill levels.
• Manage small groups and direct activities under supervision.
• Show enthusiasm and commitment to create positive learning experiences.
• Assist with classroom cleaning and supervision of play areas.
• Develop mini-lessons integrated into the main curriculum.
• Communicate with parents and school staff using in-person and electronic methods.
• Collaborate with educators and curriculum specialists to share ideas and feedback.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
