Job summary

NIHAO Chinese is seeking Mandarin teaching assistants for its afterschool programs in Southern California. You will support children ages 4–12, collaborate with teachers, and help implement mini-lessons that complement the main curriculum.

Ideal candidates are native Mandarin speakers with English proficiency, strong multitasking abilities, and at least 1 year of afterschool experience. Part-time, afternoon hours are available in several locations and programs.

Qualifications

• Native Mandarin speaker with proficiency in English.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills when working with children aged 4–12.
• Familiarity with education software and Google Suite is a plus.
• Excellent multitasking abilities balancing classroom and administrative tasks.
• Preference for candidates with at least 1 year of experience in afterschool programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist children with class activities.
• Support teachers to help students with different language backgrounds and skill levels.
• Manage small groups and guide them in activities.
• Show enthusiasm and supportive attitude to foster positive learning experiences.
• Assist teacher with classroom cleaning and play area supervision.
• Develop mini-lessons that fit into the main curriculum.
• Communicate with parents and school staff in person and via email.
• Collaborate with educators and curriculum specialists, sharing ideas and feedback.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
