Job summary

NIHAO Chinese is seeking enthusiastic Mandarin teaching assistants to join our afterschool programs across Southern California. With Preschool to AP Chinese offerings, you’ll support teachers and help students engage in language activities.

Native Mandarin speakers with English proficiency are preferred. The role is part-time (25-30 hours/week) with opportunities to develop mini-lessons and collaborate with curriculum specialists in a supportive, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Mandarin native with strong English proficiency.
• Strong problem-solving and classroom management for ages 4-12.
• Experience with education software and Google Suite is a plus.
• Excellent multitasking skills balancing classroom tasks.
• At least 1 year in an afterschool program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help children with class activities.
• Assist teachers with students of varying language backgrounds.
• Manage a small group of students during activities.
• Show enthusiasm and support positive learning experiences.
• Assist with classroom cleaning and play area supervision.
• Develop mini-lessons to supplement the main curriculum.
• Communicate with parents and school staff via in-person and email.
• Collaborate with educators and curriculum specialists.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
