Job summary

NIHAO Chinese is seeking Mandarin Teaching Assistants to support in LAUSD classrooms. The role is ideal for those aiming to become teachers, offering exposure to credentialed teachers and potential future substitutes.

Responsibilities include aiding students, collaborating with teachers, supervising small groups, and maintaining a positive learning environment. Evening and morning schedules vary, with 20–30 hours weekly in a supportive, education-focused setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese (speaking, reading and writing).
• Prior experience with elementary school students (K-5) preferred.
• Passionate about education and creative with teaching; take initiative and follow instructions.
• Able to evaluate, analyze, and solve problems with children.

Responsibilities

• Help children with class activities.
• Work with teachers to help students with different language backgrounds and skill levels.
• Help teachers with students' homework and other assignments.
• Be able to manage a small group of students and direct them to work on their assignments.
• Display enthusiasm, understanding, and commitment to ensure positive educational experiences.
