Job summary

Forsgren Associates, Inc. is seeking a Managing Engineer to lead a team of engineers on water and wastewater projects from planning through construction. You will drive schedules, budgets, quality, and workload while expanding client relationships and opportunities across the western United States.

The role emphasizes mentorship, strategic planning, and high-performance leadership to ensure quality, accountability, and sustainable growth. Utah licensure or the ability to obtain PE is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Utah (or ability to obtain).
• 10+ years of water/wastewater engineering experience.
• Experience with project proposals, scopes, budgets, and successful execution of engineering projects.
• Strong staff mentorship and performance management capabilities.
• Experience with strategic planning, client development, and operational oversight.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills.

• Play a central role in talent development and long-term organizational sustainability.

Your Responsibilities As a Managing Engineer

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical staff on a wide variety of Water/Wastewater infrastructure projects—from planning and design through bidding and construction.
• Drive operational excellence by monitoring project schedules, budgets, technical quality, and team workload.
• Strengthen and expand client relationships and workload through responsive, value-driven engineering solutions.
• Guide and mentor staff to cultivate a high-performing team culture focused on quality, accountability, and professional growth.
• Develop and strengthen client relationships by proactively identifying new business opportunities through networking, thoughtful engagement, proposal preparation, and client presentations, supporting the growth of our regional business development program.
• Partner with division leadership on strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management throughout the western U.S.
• Play a central role in talent development, succession planning, and long-term organizational sustainability.

What We’re Looking For

• B.S. in Civil Engineering (or related field)
