The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is seeking a strategic and accomplished Managing Director for Water to join its executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager & CEO, this executive will provide leadership for BPUB’s water & wastewater utility operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable services to a rapidly growing community.
This role offers a unique opportunity to guide long-term infrastructure planning, capital investment, regulatory compliance, operational performance, and environmental stewardship while advancing the mission of one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities.
Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities, including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal of all designated staff. May assume the duties and responsibilities of an executive team member in their absence.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) accredited university is required, a bachelor’s degree in a closely related field may be considered. Twelve (12) years of municipal or utility operations experience, at least five (5) of which in a senior management capacity are required. A Master’s degree is preferred and may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
