As part of East West Bank’s continued growth in syndicated finance and capital markets, this role will help expand the Bank’s ability to provide broader financing solutions, deepen lender relationships, and support strategic client opportunities.

The SVP/Managing Director, Syndications will be responsible for leading the origination, structuring, execution, and distribution of syndicated loan transactions across commercial banking, corporate banking, sponsor finance, asset-based lending, and other capital markets opportunities. This individual will partner closely with Relationship Managers, Credit, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and senior leadership to deliver financing solutions that meet client needs while expanding East West Bank’s syndicated lending capabilities.

This role requires a senior professional with deep credit markets expertise, strong lender relationships, and the ability to advise clients and internal stakeholders on capital structure, pricing, market conditions, lender appetite, and execution strategy. The SVP/Managing Director will play a key role in driving revenue growth, optimizing balance sheet utilization, expanding distribution capacity, mentoring junior team members, and strengthening East West Bank’s position as a trusted lead arranger and syndication partner.

This role can be based out of our HQ office in Pasadena, or Orange County, Dallas, NYC or Chicago

Responsibilities

  • Lead the origination, structuring, underwriting, pricing, syndication, and execution of syndicated credit facilities, including revolvers, term loans, acquisition financings, recapitalizations, refinancings, and other debt capital solutions.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and product teams to identify financing opportunities, develop optimal capital structures, and jointly pitch syndicated loan solutions to existing and prospective clients.
  • Develop and execute syndication strategies that balance client objectives, market appetite, balance sheet utilization, risk management, portfolio diversification, and revenue generation.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, institutional investors, private credit funds, alternative lenders, and other distribution partners to expand syndication capacity.
  • Advise clients and internal stakeholders on market conditions, lender demand, pricing trends, structural considerations, and transaction execution risks.
  • Oversee the preparation of syndication materials, including term sheets, confidential information memoranda, lender presentations, market updates, allocation recommendations, and transaction summaries.
  • Lead lender outreach, market soundings, bank meetings, commitment discussions, allocation strategy, negotiation, documentation review, and closing coordination.
  • Work closely with Credit, Legal, Treasury, Finance, Operations, and Agency teams to ensure transactions are structured, approved, documented, booked, and administered efficiently.
  • Support the development of syndications strategy, operating procedures, execution standards, lender coverage plans, and scalable infrastructure for a growing capital markets platform.
  • Represent the firm in lender meetings, client discussions, industry events, and market conversations to enhance the firm’s profile and deepen strategic relationships.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of syndicated lending, credit structuring, loan underwriting, pricing, documentation, capital markets execution, and lender distribution.
  • Demonstrated success originating, arranging, structuring, and executing syndicated loan transactions in a commercial banking, corporate banking, investment banking, or capital markets environment.
  • Established relationships with bank participants, institutional investors, private credit providers, alternative lenders, and other capital providers.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, regulatory considerations, loan documentation, agency administration, portfolio management, and bank balance sheet dynamics.
  • Ability to assess market appetite, advise on transaction strategy, and communicate complex financing structures clearly to clients, lenders, credit partners, and executive leadership.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage deal teams, mentor junior professionals, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and drive accountability through closing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality pitch materials, lender presentations, credit-focused summaries, and executive-level updates.
  • Commercially minded, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple complex transactions under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Experience across one or more lending verticals such as middle market C&I, sponsor finance, asset-based lending, fund finance, entertainment, healthcare, technology, real estate, or other specialty finance sectors is preferred.
  • Any other duties/projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in loan syndications, leveraged finance, capital markets, corporate banking, commercial banking, investment banking, or related financial services roles.
  • Prior experience leading syndicated loan transactions and managing lender distribution processes is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with financial modeling, market data platforms, CRM systems, virtual data rooms, and loan agency or portfolio management systems preferred.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is USD $200,000.00/Yr. - USD $300,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
