Position Summary
- Experienced, trusted executive to represent the Producer and Engineer communities on a national and global scale by leading the Recording Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing.

- Team player and mentor who works closely with their peers and colleagues within the Academy to integrate the P&E Wing in all appropriate planning and programming initiatives and with the Membership & Industry Relations Department to provide guidance and leadership to the P&E Committees at the 12 local Chapters.
- Lead the P&E Wing team in the preparation of events, initiatives, budgets, forecasts, timelines, and outreach plans.
- Partner with the co‑Chairs of the P&E Wing Steering Committee, who are elected leaders of the Academy.
- Commission visionary landmark White Papers on issues of timely import and concern to the Producer & Engineer communities, tapping key members of these communities to contribute expertise and acumen throughout every step of the process.
Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the P&E Wing and its 2 person team, reporting to the Chief Awards & Global Industry Officer.
- Liaise regularly with the SVP of Membership & Industry Relations and the Sr. Managing Director of the Songwriters & Composers Wing on all aligned activities.
- Oversee planning, budgets, events, initiatives and conferences for the P&E Wing.
- Sustain a sense of community and united purpose for members of the P&E Wing and seek out potential new members to add to the Wing’s global reach and diversity.
- Create partner and sponsorship opportunities for the P&E Wing with the Academy’s Partnerships division.
- Lead projects, programs or initiatives including but not limited to advocacy efforts, education and professional development, community initiatives, overall membership engagement, and more.
- Drive continued P&E Wing growth at the national and Chapter levels, while working closely with the Chief Awards & Global Industry Officer on global and national expansion and with the Chapter and National Member Engagement teams on guiding the 12 Chapter P&E Wing Committees so that they customize their approach for their communities while sharing knowledge, strategy and executable goals.
- Work with the P&E Wing team to spearhead membership engagement strategies beyond Chapter events including but not limited to service opportunities such as local and national committee involvement, community partnerships, local and national conference engagement, program development, social media & content development, support of our charitable entities including MusiCares and the GRAMMY Museum.
- Work closely with the Chief Advocacy Officer of the Academy on initiatives including connections with key lawmakers on a national level to ensure context and education for key legislative matters, including those related to artificial intelligence and its impact on music creators.
- Monitor and interpret emerging technology trends—including AI, machine learning‑driven production tools, and immersive/spatial audio formats—and their impact on the producer and engineer communities, translating these trends into member education, White Papers, panels and strategic advocacy positions.
- Serve as the P&E Wing's representative in the Academy's broader conversations on responsible AI use in music, including matters of credit, compensation, consent and disclosure, ensuring the perspective of working producers and engineers is reflected in Academy positions.
- Curate the P&E Wing Advisory Council and related Committees, working with the P&E Wing Steering Committee Co‑Chairs and the Chief Awards & Global Industry Officer.
- Oversee the curation of the Special Merit Technical Award on an annual basis, in conjunction with the Technical Grammy Award Committee and its Chair or Co‑Chairs
- Oversee, secure sponsors for and direct the planning and execution of the annual P&E Wing Grammy Week event, working with P&E Wing staff, internal Academy production, outside vendors, artist relations, legal, partnerships and MarComms teams.
- Curate the selection of the annual honoree(s) at the P&E Wing Grammy Week event in conjunction with the P&E Wing Steering Committee, Academy CEO and the Chief Awards & Global Industry Officer.
- Oversee the 2 person P&E Wing staff in executing virtual and in‑person projects, events and initiatives from conception to completion (e.g. timelines, strategies, goals, budgets, partnerships, legal due diligence, staffing/volunteers, etc.), including but not limited to financial partners, coordinating venues, caterers, contractors, equipment rentals, parking, traffic control, security, first aid, hospitality, sponsor fulfillment, and media.
- Elevate the P&E Wing’s presence within the Academy’s membership and the music industry as a whole.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of music industry experience, preferably as a working producer or engineer or in direct service to these communities.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of emerging technologies shaping music production and engineering, including AI-assisted and AI-generated production tools, machine learning applications in audio, and immersive/spatial audio formats. Able to evaluate the opportunities and challenges these technologies pose for producers and engineers and translate them into practical guidance, programming and advocacy positions for the community.
- Ability to maintain composure in high‑stress, complex situations to ensure the smooth and efficient running of an event; has excellent decision‑making skills, clear communication and delegation; fosters welcoming hospitality.

Compensation
The starting base salary for this position is $124,300 to $139,800 per year, benchmarked against industry standards. The actual extended offer will depend on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and the role’s requirements and will include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k match, generous paid time off, and more.
