Job description

The client is seeking a Managing Director (f/m/d) for operations to lead and oversee the overall responsibility for the Austrian organization and its subsidiaries. In close collaboration with a sales-oriented managing director, you will focus on operational steering and further development across Engineering, project management, production, assembly, and supply chain. The role includes full outcome responsibility for operational project execution, ensuring customer projects are delivered on time, profitably, and with the highest quality.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing the operative business strategy in alignment with the group strategy, ensuring successful project delivery throughout the entire project life cycle, and enhancing project management standards, governance structures, and KPI systems. You will drive operational and engineering excellence through standardization and scaling of technical solutions, optimize manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning processes, and introduce and implement lean management and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also build and develop a strong leadership team, foster a performance-oriented, customer-focused, and collaborative corporate culture, and steer transformation and change management processes.

Candidates should have a completed technical education in fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation technology, or industrial engineering, and typically bring multi-year experience as a managing director, COO, general manager, or in a comparable role with substantial operational responsibility. You are expected to demonstrate proven leadership experience in an industrial B2B environment and have strong knowledge of engineering, project management, production, and assembly. Additional strengths include experience with international customer projects and project-based business models, expertise in operational excellence, lean management, and organizational development, an entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on drive, and confident communication and leadership at top-management level in both German and English.
