Fifth Third's Mergers & Acquisitions group continues to expand our team of industry experts in the middle market. We are seeking a Managing Director in Food to strengthen our Industrial M&A and Corporate & Investment Banking teams. Position: Managing Director, Mergers & Acquisitions

General Function

This senior leadership role involves leading teams to source and execute M&A advisory assignments by leveraging industry expertise, transaction execution skills, and business development acumen. Develop relationships with senior executives within the bank and at client organizations. Lead and participate in pitching, managing, and closing complex advisory transactions. Collaborate with Corporate & Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and other divisions to offer comprehensive solutions. Contribute to the strategic direction of the group and the professional development of team members. Demonstrate key leadership qualities to support the bank's investment banking strategy.

Risk and Customer Focus

Responsible for risk management by sharing ideas, raising concerns, and adhering to policies. Always prioritize doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions drive a positive experience. Operate within the bank’s risk appetite, consistently managing and monitoring risks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Leverage industry and market knowledge to assess client objectives and provide strategic advice.
  2. Source and execute M&A and capital raise transactions aligned with the bank’s core client base to support revenue goals.
  3. Build and maintain an active network of company and financial sponsor relationships for new business opportunities.
  4. Manage a pipeline of opportunities from targeted sectors.
  5. Lead the creation and delivery of proprietary ideas, marketing materials, and presentations. Deepen client relationships and showcase the bank’s full-service capabilities.
  6. Recruit, develop, and retain talent, serving as a mentor and role model.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide timely, candid performance feedback. Develop employees’ potential and offer growth opportunities. Identify and develop talent pools for succession planning. Recognize and reward accomplishments.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. 15+ years of experience in M&A and Investment Banking, with expertise in Food & Beverage.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Proven success in originating and closing complex financial transactions as part of a team.
  4. Leadership experience with involvement in key business decisions.
  5. Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Leadership and mentoring skills.
  8. Industry expertise aligned with the M&A team's targeted sectors.
  9. An MBA or equivalent qualification.
  10. Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79, and Series 63 licenses required.
