Managing Director – Business Valuation

Location: Flexible – Work from any of our client’s 5 U.S. office locations or remote in certain circumstances

One of the most respected consulting firms in the valuation space is looking for a Managing Director to help lead and expand their national Business Valuation practice. If you’ve built your career around delivering high-quality valuations — whether for ESOPs, tax, financial reporting, or transaction support — and you’re ready to step into a leadership role with room to grow, this one’s worth a look.

This firm has built a reputation in the middle market for its work in business valuation, ESOP advisory, and M&A. They’re independent, employee-owned, and known for long-standing client relationships across a broad range of industries. The team blends technical depth with a genuine partnership approach — it’s a place where senior leaders are trusted advisors, not just service providers.

The Role

You’ll be a key part of the leadership team, driving client delivery, team development, and business growth. You’ll have the freedom to build out your own client base while leveraging the strength of an established platform. Whether your background is in financial reporting, tax, ESOPs, or something niche — they’re open to different valuation paths, as long as you bring credibility and leadership.

This is a hybrid position with flexibility to work out of any U.S. office. Remote work will be allowed in certain circumstances

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Client Work: Oversee and deliver business valuations across a range of purposes including financial reporting (ASC 805, ASC 350, etc.), gift & estate tax, ESOPs, and more.
  • Build Revenue: Manage a portfolio of clients, targeting $1.5M+ in annual revenue.
  • Mentor and Develop: Grow and develop a team of valuation professionals across levels.
  • Drive Practice Growth: Play a key role in business development, proposal strategy, and thought leadership within your area of focus.
  • Collaborate Across the Firm: Partner with colleagues in other advisory areas on integrated solutions and cross-sell opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: 12+ years in business valuation, ideally across a mix of financial reporting, tax, and/or ESOPs.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading teams and managing complex valuation engagements.
  • Technical Skills: Strong modeling background and a deep understanding of valuation theory and applicable standards.
  • Credentials: CPA, ASA, CFA, ABV, or similar credentials are preferred.
  • Revenue Generation Experience: Comfort developing business and managing client relationships. Only candidates with a book of business exceeding $1 Million over the past 12 months will be considered.
