Job description

Managing Director
Position Overview

This opportunity is designed for an established financial services leader who wants the entrepreneurial upside of building and leading a significant organization, while leveraging an existing platform with the infrastructure, resources, specialists, and support necessary to scale. The MD will have the ability to recruit and develop their own organization while leveraging company’s broader capabilities to help advisors expand their practices and serve clients across insurance, retirement, investments, and financial planning.

We are looking for a leader who can make an immediate impact while also seeing the long-term opportunity to build a substantial business and leadership legacy.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Recruit and attract full-time financial professionals and advisors.
  • Build, lead, and grow a productive financial services organization.
  • Coach and develop both new and experienced advisors.
  • Drive advisor productivity, professional development, retention, and overall organizational growth.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability around activity and results.
  • Identify and develop future managers and leaders within the organization.
  • Drive growth across life insurance, annuity, retirement, and broader financial planning opportunities.
  • Help advisors develop sustainable client acquisition strategies and repeatable business-development systems.
  • Collaborate with company leadership, recruiting, training, operations, and our broader ecosystem of specialists.
  • Build and maintain a culture centered on growth, professionalism, relationships, service, and performance.
  • Represent company professionally within the financial services industry and marketplace.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in a financial services management or leadership role.
  • Candidates should ideally come from the life insurance, retirement planning, financial advisor, wealth management, or related financial services distribution environment.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain financial professionals.
  • Experience leading a team, agency, office, market, or advisor organization.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance and retirement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive advisor productivity and organizational growth.
  • Experience coaching and developing advisors at different stages of their careers.
  • Track record of measurable recruiting, retention, and/or production results.
  • Experience identifying and developing future managers and leaders is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to investments, advisory business, and AUM is preferred but not required.
Licensing & Credentials
  • Active Life & Health insurance license required.
  • Series 65, Series 7 & 66, or an applicable professional designation that satisfies IAR qualification requirements is preferred, but not required.
  • Existing investment advisory and AUM experience is considered a strong plus given Rise North Capital’s RIA platform.
  • Additional industry licenses, professional designations, and credentials are viewed favorably.
Leadership Characteristics

The successful candidate should be:

  • Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented.
  • A proven recruiter and developer of people.
  • Competitive with a team-first mentality.
  • Comfortable establishing expectations and accountability.
  • A strong communicator and relationship builder.
  • Capable of balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day execution.
  • Resourceful and comfortable operating in a growth environment.
  • Motivated by building an organization rather than simply managing an existing one.
  • Interested in developing people, building leaders, and creating meaningful long-term enterprise value.
