Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead multidisciplinary cultural resources projects across the United States. You will oversee fieldwork, report writing, and client relations while mentoring archaeologists and coordinating with ERM's nationwide teams.

Successful candidates will have a graduate degree in Anthropology or Archaeology with 8+ years of experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven business development abilities. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8+ years of related paid experience.
  • Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
  • Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical reports.
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
  • Proficient in permitting regulations for cultural resources (e.g., FERC, USACE, THC).
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated business development abilities and client relationship management.
  • Ability to manage and work within a team as well as independently.
  • Limited travel within the United States.
  • Experience with regional consulting and familiarity with regulatory processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team performing literature review, field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation.
  • Provide technical consulting to support ERM's archaeology and cultural heritage growth.
  • Interact with ERM practice areas to share multi-disciplinary resources.
  • Represent ERM with state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via email and phone conferences.
  • Oversee and manage subcontractors.
  • Assist with proposals to meet client needs.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring quality.
