Job summary

Buffalo City Mission is seeking a Manager of Volunteers and Community Engagement to lead volunteer programs across our Buffalo, NY locations. This full-time role drives volunteer events, donor engagement, and annual drives while stewarding community partnerships and church outreach.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of volunteer coordination or nonprofit relationship management experience, with strong communication and organizational skills and

• Tracks monthly item needs and coordinates with community partners.
• Creates and manages Amazon Wish lists for drives and website.
• Schedules donations and follows up with donors.
• Builds relationships with community partners and leads special events.
• Represents the Mission at churches and organizations to promote opportunities.

$24.00-$26.00 per hour

Buffalo City Mission is seeking a Manager, Volunteers & Community Engagement. This position is full-time, working across our Buffalo, NY locations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees volunteers and group events. Performs tours for volunteers and groups at all Mission facilities.
• Manages the development, planning, and implementation of the yearly process of volunteer and staff yearly Appreciation Program. Administers recognition programs for volunteers via thank you notes, social media posts, and/or other event communication.
• Manages the volunteer database of all volunteer records for the department.
• Implements the Mission’s collection drive policies, procedures, and events regarding individual and group donations of in-kind goods throughout the year, including Christmas gift needs for the men, women, and children.
• Oversees the receipt, tracking, and documentation of monthly men’s, women, and children’s “new” item needs of the Mission for sharing with community partners and auditing purposes.
• Creates and manages Amazon Wish lists and wish list process for the mission website and individual and group collection drives.
• Schedules appointments and receives donations and ensures that a follow-up Thank you communication is sent to each donor. Connects community donors to special specific needs such as birthday wish lists from residents. Actively pursues seasonal needs.
• Establishes, maintains, and builds relationships with community partners for all practical needs and special seasonal needs.
• Manages the Turkey or Hambone Express annual Mission community service events.
• Represents the Mission by visiting churches and organizations to communicate volunteer opportunities and donation needs. Manages and grows the Church Ambassador Program.
• Oversees all tabling events within the community.

Education / Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, public relations, or relationship management—ideally within a non-profit or ministry environment.

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

• Strong time management and communication (verbal and written) management skills. Detail-oriented, adaptable, organized and ability to successfully multi-task.
• Comfortable with public speaking.
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure within deadlines; excellent organizational skills
• Ability to manage and develop others successfully, including setting goals, managing performance, and providing training and development opportunities
• Must have evening and weekend availability to support events
• In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ
