The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to management promotion within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a management team member expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the Store Manager's supervision, the MIT will lead by example to maintain an engaged, productive team and support overall store operations, including:

  • Store management, supervision, and policy implementation
  • Financial management, including managing and analyzing monthly P&L statements
  • Employee staffing, training, and development
  • Inventory management
  • Customer service leadership

MITs will complete operational and management training, learning key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. Satisfactory performance and demonstrated progression are required to remain in the program and be considered for management openings.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and available openings.

Requirements
  • 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
  • Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required
