Rapidly growing Saab Inc. Land Systems division is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Manager with experience in weapon systems engineering design, production support, and functional discipline team management.

The primary function of the role is to provide engineering functional management for a team of 5 or more system and integration, verification and test (IV&T) engineers, some working remotely. The SEIT Manager will collaborate with program management teams, the division’s chief engineer, human resources, and other functions to support new developments, execution of existing programs, technology transfers, and assist with Land Systems’ engineering organization growth and alignment with future business development.

Travel is required, mainly domestic and some international. Currently, the position is remote; relocation to the Detroit, MI area will be required within 12 months of start date.

Responsibilities include:

1. Provide functional management to SEIT team, focusing on technical and programmatic objectives.
2. Assign personnel to projects and recruit staff as needed, through direct hire or contractual agencies.
3. Provide leadership, technical insight, guidance, mentorship, and coaching to systems engineering personnel.
4. Manage performance reviews and career development processes.
5. Develop engineering training and professional development strategies.
6. Ensure personnel adherence to company processes, contribute to process improvements.
7. Support cost estimating activities, including proposals and budget development.
8. Ensure accountability for technical, cost, and schedule targets.
9. Assess technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
10. Assist in long-term engineering staffing planning and strategy development.
11. Contribute to technology development roadmap planning from SEIT perspective.
12. Generate budgets and requests for the SEIT group, including overhead, capital, tools, subscriptions, and training.
13. Support other divisions’ staffing needs in collaboration with engineering leadership.

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering; 15+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience in systems engineering, integration & test, related to DoD weapon systems, including architecture, requirements, verification, MOSA principles, MBSE, test development, planning, and execution.
• Experience with matrix organizations, staffing, hiring, and performance management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills across various levels and locations.
• Knowledge of DoD and industry engineering standards, tools, and processes.
• Familiarity with other company functions such as HR, finance, and supply chain.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance (Secret minimum).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
