Job summary

Dexcom is seeking a Systems Design Engineering Manager in San Diego to lead test systems in sensor manufacturing, safeguard product integrity, and influence validation strategies for CGM devices. You’ll troubleshoot challenges in real time and work with cross‑functional teams to drive quality.

A technical degree with 8–12 years of industry experience and 3–5 years of leadership in medical devices is required, plus knowledge of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field and 8–12 years of relevant experience.
  • Leadership experience in medical device testing, design, development or verification.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead test systems maintenance and validation for sensor manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot challenges in real time and mentor the team in investigations of failures.
  • Drive continuous improvement to modernize and scale test processes.

As a Systems Design Engineering Manager, you won’t just oversee the maintenance of our test systems—you’ll be a key player in safeguarding product integrity. You’ll work hands-on with advanced test systems in our sensor manufacturing, troubleshoot challenges in real time, and directly influence how we validate and improve our products. Every day brings something new, from solving complex technical problems to collaborating cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

  • Experienced technical leader familiar with industry best practices in test execution and system design.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to modernize, scale and optimize test processes and methodologies.


What makes you successful


  • A technical degree in engineering or related scientific field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in medical device testing, design, development, and/or verification.

  • Knowledge in structured problem solving, test method validation, statistical analysis, and related technical skills.

  • A good understanding of emotional intelligence with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A situational leader that flexes styles for the individual and task.

  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820

  • Results-oriented, self-disciplined, fast-paced, motivated individual that requires minimal supervision.
