Job summary

Dexcom is seeking a Systems Design Engineering Manager in San Diego to lead hands-on test systems for our CGM products. You will safeguard product integrity, troubleshoot challenges in real-time, and influence validation improvements across manufacturing and R&D teams.

You’ll manage a team of engineers, drive continuous improvement, and partner with cross‑functional groups to meet aggressive quality and regulatory standards. Experience in medical devices and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in medical device testing or verification.
  • Experience with ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820; strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers in test systems and safeguarding product integrity.
  • Investigate testing failures and drive continuous improvement across processes.

As a Systems Design Engineering Manager, you won’t just oversee the maintenance of our test systems—you’ll be a key player in safeguarding product integrity. You’ll work hands‑on with advanced test systems in our sensor manufacturing, troubleshoot challenges in real time, and directly influence how we validate and improve our products. Where you come in: Experienced technical leader familiar with industry best practices in test execution and system design. Highly accountable manager that delivers results while defining challenging goals and objectives. Manage multiple high-priority requests from competing stakeholders and deploy resources to maximize business impact. The ability to seamlessly lead and mentor the team in investigations of testing failures. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to modernize, scale and optimize test processes and methodologies.

What makes you successful: A technical degree in engineering or related scientific field. Advanced degree preferred. 3+ years of leadership experience in medical device testing, design, development, and/or verification. Knowledge in structured problem solving, test method validation, statistical analysis, and related technical skills. A good understanding of emotional intelligence with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A situational leader that flexes styles for the individual and task. Knowledge of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820 Results‑oriented, self‑disciplined, fast‑paced, motivated individual that requires minimal supervision.
