Job description

Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.
We are looking for a Manager, Strategy and Operations to drive our company forward, and help us lead the clean energy revolution!
How you will make an impact:
As the Manager, Strategy and Operationsyou will be at the center of driving operational excellence and strategic alignment across our SPEED (security, product, engineering, design) teams. This role is ideal for a highly organized, data-driven leader who thrives in cross-functional environments and is passionate about team health, performance metrics, and scaling high-impact operational processes.
You will be responsible for managing our operating rhythm, strategic initiatives, OKRs, and key performance metrics. You'll also serve as the administrator of collaboration platforms such as Confluence, and a champion of consistent documentation and training practices.
What you get to do:
Operating Rhythm, KPI effectiveness, OKRs
  • Own and run the SPEED operating rhythm, ensuring structured, recurring cadences for strategic planning, execution alignment, performance tracking, and decision-making across portfolios and leadership stakeholders. Drive / facilitate feedback loops to continuously improve the operating rhythm.
  • Lead the process for defining, tracking, and reporting on team-level and cross-functional OKRs.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs that reflect delivery health, team effectiveness, and business outcomes.
  • Analyze performance trends and present actionable insights to leadership.
  • Create regular reporting cadences and dashboards for OKRs, metrics and portfolio health.
Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management
  • Lead the planning and execution of strategic initiatives across multiple portfolios.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, dependencies, and resource constraints.
  • Partner with stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Security and Design to drive alignment with strategic goals.
  • Support the prioritization and intake processes for new projects and initiatives.
Team Health & Excellence
  • Foster a culture of performance and well-being through best practices in pod/team health (e.g., “PM excellence,” “pod excellence”).
  • Conduct team health assessments via surveys or retrospectives and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to continuously optimize delivery processes and team engagement.

Documentation & Enablement
  • Own and maintain Confluence documentation across product and delivery operations.
  • Develop and curate training materials to support onboarding and continuous learning.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to ensure consistency in knowledge and execution.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Serve as the connective tissue between product, engineering, security, design and business teams.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership to align operational processes to broader business goals.
  • Represent the Strategy & Operations team in key forums, ensuring visibility into planning and delivery.
What you bring to Uplight:
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, strategy & operations, or portfolio management roles.
  • Proven success in leading cross-functional initiatives in a tech, SaaS, or agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of OKR frameworks, KPI tracking, and agile delivery metrics.
  • Proficiency with operational tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Asana, Looker/Tableau, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, resolve ambiguity, and align diverse teams.
  • Experience creating documentation and training materials to support internal enablement.
Bonus points:
  • Fluency with Jira, Wrike
  • Consulting background
