Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to drive architecture, mentorship, and cross-functional delivery across complex systems. The role emphasizes building reliable, scalable platforms with modern cloud practices, strong leadership, and hands-on guidance.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in software engineering, 3+ years mentoring teams, deep Java/JVM expertise, and proven success in Agile environments. A Bachelor's or Master's in a related field is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive industry experience.
• 3+ years directly managing and mentoring software teams.
• Deep background in scalable, highly available platform development (Java/JVM).
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise in Kubernetes and Terraform (IaC).
• Proven track record in end-to-end service ownership and automation.
• Strong Agile/Scrum foundation.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering with required years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and lead critical architecture discussions and planning
• Proactively foresee and resolve systemic issues
• Advocate for technical excellence and guide teams toward high-quality engineering practices
• Lead multi-functional coordination, planning, and reviews
• Act as a multiplier by providing exceptional mentorship and technical guidance
• Actively participate in the hiring and interview process
• Partner closely with Product Owners to align efforts with product objectives
• Occasionally contribute to technical development tasks
• Ensure teams are equipped with clear priorities and adequate resources

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive industry experience
• 3+ years directly managing and mentoring high-performing software engineering teams
• Deep technical background in scalable, highly available platform development, focus on Java/JVM languages and modern cloud architecture
• Experience with major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Expertise in Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
• Proven track record for implementing end-to-end service ownership, focusing on building reliable, self-healing services and driving robust automation
• Demonstrated success in leading complex programs and managing cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong foundation in Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of experience, or a Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience.
