Job description

Manager, Respiratory Services East Valley

Phoenix Children’s is seeking an experienced Respiratory Care Manager to help lead the development, staffing, and operational readiness of our new East Valley Campus. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in launching a new hospital campus while building a high‑performing respiratory care team from the ground up.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily Respiratory Care operations and staff.
  • Build and develop a highly engaged Respiratory Therapy team.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and retention strategies.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, and departmental operations.
  • Drive quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary leaders to optimize patient care and operational readiness.
  • Maintain 24/7 accountability for department operations.
  • Support East Valley startup initiatives, including equipment planning, education, workflow development, and operational readiness activities.
  • Serve as a visible, hands‑on leader who can provide clinical support when needed.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of Respiratory Therapy experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • NICU and Labor & Delivery experience required.
  • NRP certification required.
  • Experience leading Respiratory Therapy teams and managing day‑to‑day department operations.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Current State of AZ Respiratory Care Practitioner license or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ability to establish prior to start date.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT) by National Board of Respiratory Care or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association within one year of hire.
  • Preferred: American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) membership.
  • Preferred: Current Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty credential (NPS) by National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Physical and occupational exposure requirements as appropriate for the role.
