About the Role

The Physical Production Legal team at Netflix is seeking a proactive Manager/Counsel who will independently manage and execute various legal functions related to physical production.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for below‑the‑line legal matters during development, pre‑production, production, post‑production, and launch.
  • Independently structure, draft, and negotiate below‑the‑line production agreements, including but not limited to department head agreements, casting director agreements, line producer agreements, short‑term production services agreements, vendor/rental agreements, equipment rental agreements, vehicle, aviation, charter, drone, and watercraft agreements, location agreements, production office lease agreements, post‑production agreements, and visual effects agreements.
  • Clearly and succinctly communicate solutions to internal production and business partners, as well as external producers and production personnel during complex negotiations.
  • Resolve legal issues efficiently without causing production delays, adapting to the fast‑paced nature of the role.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with cross‑functional partners, including Production Management, Post Production, VFX, Business Affairs, Labor, Finance, Health & Safety, Tax, Real Estate, and Risk Management teams.
  • Contribute to team policies, practices, and workflows, providing guidance to junior team members even when not in a formal managerial position.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree (JD or Paralegal certification accepted but not required).
  • 5 to 8 years of proven experience in a similar business/legal affairs role within the film or television industry.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably on multiple projects under tight timeframes in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Strong risk assessment capability and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience managing productions within or outside of the U.S., Canada, and Australia Networks (UCAN) is valued.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a solutions‑driven mindset.
  • Excellent organizational, clarity, and communication skills for conveying complex ideas quickly and accurately.
  • Confidence in counseling business partners and making decisions with legal and business impact.
  • Flexibility to adapt positively to change.
  • Tech‑savvy, proficient with Google Workspace and cloud‑based document and database systems.
Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary range: $165,000 – $300,000, with no bonus structure. Employees choose salary versus stock options each year based on their market placement and experience. Comprehensive benefits include health plans, mental health support, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, stock option program, disability programs, a health savings account, a flexible spending account, family‑forming benefits, and life and serious injury benefits. Full‑time hourly employees accrue 35 days of paid time off annually; full‑time salaried employees receive flexible time off immediately.
