Ziply Fiber is seeking a Manager, Outside Plant Engineering to lead an OSP engineering team across our fiber network expansion. You will supervise engineering work orders, ensure compliance with standards, and drive project delivery on time and within budget.

Job Summary

The Manager, Outside Plant (OSP)Engineering will be responsible for managing OSP Engineering activitiesperformed by both Ziply employees and engineering vendors, ensuring that workperformed meets or exceeds quality standards and projects are completed perdesign, on-time and within the allocated budget. This position requires strongteamwork within the Construction Department, as well as cross-collaborationwith other departments across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead an Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering team and provide leadership andmentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performancemanagement.
  • Accountable for the staffing, schedules and compliance associated withOSP engineering and construction activities, along with the safety and qualityof work performed.
  • Oversee production of all engineering work orders within an assignedgeographic area. Ensure engineering work orders are designed in compliance withall company standards, NESC, and municipal requirements, as well as public ROWor utility easements. Confirm project cost estimates are accurate. Release workorders to Construction in time to meet commitment dates.
  • Manage Engineering process and documentation through project completion.
Permitting, Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Identify permitting authorities based on proposed routes includingmunicipalities, government entities, utility owners and any other agencies whohave authority over the right-of-way in which we are proposing to construct.Oversee the completion of necessary permit applications.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute project schedules with contractors,property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities,and government agencies.
  • Coordinate and participate in various internal meetings to ensurecommunication and alignment of initiatives, information sharing andimplementation of best practices.
  • Coordinate with State, local municipalities, and utilities.
  • Verify contractor’s invoices for accuracy and process to AP in a timelymanner.
Other Duties
  • Performsother duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • Minimumof eight (6) years of outside plant (OSP) experience, including quoting, permitting and other pre-construction activities.
  • Developedleadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead others.
  • Experienceusing fiber optic network documentation tools.
  • Advancedunderstanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties,and pole owners.
  • Musthave and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactorydriving record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Musthave computer competency including proficiency with Microsoft Suite andunderstanding of database programs.
  • Abilityto type minimum of 40 WPM 40.
  • Abilityto consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal andexternal customers.
  • Abilityto work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to avariety of situations.
  • Abilityto multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meetdeadlines.
