A leading company in health center analytics is seeking a Manager of Operations to oversee HR, event coordination, and recruitment. This remote role involves contributing to a positive company culture and supporting a small team dedicated to improving healthcare equity. Ideal candidates will have HR experience and a passion for organizational excellence.
Remote / Full-time
Join a small, dynamic team that's raising the bar for health center analytics.
Relevant’s mission is to support community health centers in their drive to improve patient health. We do this by providing smart, friendly analytics software, along with hands-on support and consulting. Today, our team of 23 supports more than 75 health centers across the country. We’re small, bootstrapped, and profitable.
In this role, you’ll be at the center of day-to-day operations for Relevant. You’ll contribute across a variety of areas, from people operations to events management and recruiting, and much more! A focus of the role is to maintain and build on the systems and the culture that keep our team happy and engaged with one another and with Relevant’s mission. You’ll work closely with various members of our team and report to our Chief Operating Officer.
Manage and improve HR. Manage our existing HR systems, supporting our employees from the day they’re hired to the day they leave Relevant. Think: annual employee survey, payroll and benefits, parental leave, our 401(k), HR compliance, managing onboarding and tools administration, and establishing and maintaining relationships with external vendors such as our PEO, EOR, and 401(k) administrators. Refine and manage the systems that make Relevant a great place to work, from compensation and benefits plans to performance reviews.
Coordinate events. Coordinate company events and travel, including health center visits, fun events (both virtual and in person), and quarterly staff events or retreats for our team of ~20. Handle logistics for 4-5 trade shows each year, which means getting a few of us to our destination with a TV, laptops, swag, and marketing materials intact.
Recruiting. Work with our hiring managers to identify and recruit diverse talent from around the country. We’re growing, but at a very sane clip, so this means supporting us in hiring a small number of very excellent people across different departments, including technical.
Assist with special projects. Relevant is a small, growing company, so we all wear multiple hats - we’ll ask you to pitch in on mission-critical projects that arise. To give you a sense: you might support managers in planning and delivering internal trainings, write marketing copy or sales emails, or help track company goals. If some projects are more compelling to you than others, we'll try to shape your work accordingly and give you opportunities to develop in specific areas.
HR experience, preferably in a small company. Ideally, you’ve run payroll, selected benefits, been responsible for on- and off-boarding, and seen a few HR compliance problems in your day. You feel comfortable managing external vendors (PEO, EOR, 401k vendor) and making decisions and recommendations about HR policies and approaches.
Love for organization and systems. You’d be excited to build and improve our systems, from keeping track of regulatory deadlines to tinkering with our onboarding process. You have an eye for the details as well as the big picture of how a new workflow or system will be rolled out and adopted.
Ability to get stuff done. You’re able to bring clarity and organization to a new project from start to finish. You learn a lot on your own, find ways of cutting through obstacles, and consult with others when needed. You’re flexible, highly resourceful, willing to pitch in, and like to move quickly, even if the path forward isn’t totally clear.
Excellent research & tech skills. You’re good at getting to the bottom of things. “Things” might include how to ensure we’re compliant with regulations in a new state, how Google Groups permissions can be tweaked, or why new hires are getting tripped up on a particular onboarding task. Learning new software doesn’t scare you.
Emotional intelligence. As a company, we think feelings matter a lot. You’re someone who understands this, who builds strong relationships with many types of people, and who knows how to show up for the occasional difficult conversation. You’d be excited to help foster a healthy, friendly, collaborative culture.
Excellent communication skills. You can communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. You take pride in writing well, and can draft concise, polished emails and other documents as needed, for internal and external audiences.
A desire to make healthcare better, with a focus on equity and social justice. We’re building tools used by safety-net organizations that are fighting health disparities, and we’re looking for candidates who find this focus compelling.
Note: If you don't check every box, but find this role compelling and think you'd be a good fit – please apply. Just make sure to tell us why you think so in your email.
