GNCO, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Training & Safety to lead the organization's training and safety strategy, drive regulatory compliance, and elevate workforce performance.

The role partners with operational leaders to deliver technically sound programs, assess effectiveness using data, and build a high-skilled safety culture across all operating companies, while leading the Corporate Training and Safety Team and managing budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Adult Learning, HR, Education, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in training, safety, or workforce development.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Experience managing safety programs, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation preferred.

• Direct and oversee the strategic direction of all training and safety programs across the organization.
• Develop and implement annual training and safety objectives that align with organizational goals.

Manager of Training & Safety - Full-Time (Exempt)

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Training & Safety is responsible for leading the organization's training and safety strategy to support employee development, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction. This role oversees technical, operator, and safety training programs; leads the company's safety initiatives; and partners with operational leaders to ensure a safe, productive, and highly skilled workforce. This role serves as a key business partner to leadership, using data, employee feedback, and operational trends to continuously improve training effectiveness, employee safety, and organizational performance. This position leads the Corporate Training and Safety Team and drives the successful implementation of company-wide initiatives across all operating companies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Direct and oversee the strategic direction of all training and safety programs across the organization.
• Develop and implement annual training and safety objectives that align with organizational goals.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to senior leadership regarding improvements to processes, systems, content, staffing, and technology.
• Lead and develop the Training and Safety Team through coaching, goal setting, performance management, and succession planning.

Training & Workforce Development

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical and operator training strategy that supports the organization's products, services, and workforce needs.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive training strategy for Product Support leadership, parts team members, and other non-technician roles.
• Establish training program objectives, advancement criteria, and certification standards.
• Partner with branch and operational leadership to identify training needs and workforce skill gaps.
• Ensure systems and accountability measures are in place to identify, assign, track, and report required technical, safety, and compliance training.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of training curriculum, materials, and instructional programs.
• Coordinate training delivered through manufacturers, vendors, and external partners.
• Maintain a centralized technical training library and ensure training resources are easily accessible and current.
• Analyze training data, certification completion rates, employee feedback, and operational performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with Human Resources and operational leaders to support technician recruiting, onboarding, career development, and retention initiatives.

Safety & Risk Management

• Serve as the organization's safety leader and subject matter expert for safety programs and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and execute safety strategies designed to reduce incidents, strengthen safety culture, and improve overall safety performance.
• Lead safety committees, safety reviews, and company-wide safety initiatives.
• Monitor and analyze safety metrics, including TRIR, DART, incident trends, and near-miss reporting, and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee incident investigations and ensure corrective action plans are implemented and monitored.
• Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, BWC, DOT, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Maintain oversight of third-party safety compliance platforms and related reporting requirements.
• Partner with operational leadership to conduct safety audits, field observations, and risk assessments.
• Provide strategic oversight and support for workers' compensation, return-to-work, and related compliance initiatives.
• Facilitate required annual safety training and emergency preparedness activities for all employee groups.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets.
• Analyze expenditures and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and return on investment.
• Monitor training and safety program performance through metrics, reporting, and tracking systems.
• Utilize data and operational trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in training, safety, technical operations, workforce development, or a related field.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Experience developing and implementing training programs preferred.
• Experience managing safety programs, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation efforts preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence organizational change.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and develop actionable recommendations.
• Experience managing projects and multiple competing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
• Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time between branch locations.
