Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individualsEnsure Standard Operating Procedures are maintained, up to date, and communicated to all employeesVerify managers and supervisors are trained in safety and health, accident prevention, and accident investigationsAssess engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) on an on-going basisPatrol of the interior of and the perimeter of the properties to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditionsManage response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, thefts, unlawful activities, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or propertyServe as the primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcementOversee the administration and accuracy of all required investigations, reports and documentation in a timely and efficient mannerRespond to employee inquiries and suggestions timely, friendly and efficient mannerMonitor and develop employee safety performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and rewardAny other duties required to ensure compliance with OSHA standards, and for maintaining a safe and secure workplaceKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesMinimum of five (5) years of experience as safety manager at a manufacturing companyA Bachelor’s degree is preferred but experience and education can be substitutedExperience with OSHA standards, safety controls, and safety trainingKnowledge of job safety analysis and hazard identification and assessmentAbility to develop a positive working relationship with employees and their supervisorsWorking knowledge and skill in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office software applications. Ability to learn departmental software programs. Ability to type accuratelyPhysical RequirementsNormal manufacturing environment with routine periods of sitting, walking, or standingThe ability to travel between facilitiesOccasional lifting of up to 40 pounds
