Job summary

Crystal Lake Park District is seeking a Manager of Recreation Facilities to oversee maintenance and operations across multiple locations, ensuring safe, welcoming spaces for visitors and staff.

You will lead three direct-report managers, manage budgets, coordinate use, and advance projects with parks services, prioritizing safety and high-quality experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation and park administration, leisure services, or a related field.
• Four+ years of management or supervisory experience in a recreation agency.
• Three years of experience managing facilities across multiple locations.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance.
• CPRP certification and Illinois Food Management Certification preferred.

From beaches, recreation and athletic facilities, and community gathering spaces, Crystal Lake Park District facilities are where people come to play, learn, and connect. We’re looking for a Manager of Recreation Facilities to help keep those spaces safe, welcoming, and ready for what’s next.

In this role, you’ll lead facility maintenance projects across multiple locations, support three direct-report managers and supervisors, and work with teams throughout the Park District to deliver a great experience for visitors and staff.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate facility use, review operating procedures, and respond to public concerns.
• Partner with Park Services on facility projects, vendor/contractor coordination, and priorities.
• Develop goals and budgets, monitor expenses, and recommend improvements.
• Promote a strong culture of safety and risk management.

What you’ll bring

• A bachelor’s degree in recreation and park administration, leisure services, or a related field.
• At least four years of management or supervisory experience in a recreation agency and three years of experience managing facilities across multiple locations.
• Strong leadership, communication, customer service, budgeting, and project management skills.
• CPR/AED certification
• Valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance.
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification, preferred.
• Illinois Food Management Certification, preferred.
